Students will reach personal and group instrumental goals throughout a sequential four-year curriculum studying challenging musical literature in a variety of genres in musical history. Students will also study more in depth concepts of music theory and history. Basic concepts of improvisation and composition will also be addressed. These goals are achieved through participation and performance in concert band, pep band, and solo/ensemble opportunities. Students will also be required to attend weekly lessons and participate in the spring Cabaret.

Choir is a general music elective concentrating on choral music. Students who are interested in singing in an ensemble may elect choir each year. A wide variety of choral literature is performed with an emphasis on the understanding and appreciation of different musical styles. Students perform at regular concerts throughout the year, including a Cabaret Show. Students are encouraged to audition for Solo/Ensemble and Honors Choir.

This course is for any students that are interested in aspects of music that the traditional band or choir class does not offer. This class will focus on the individual interests of each student such as playing in a modern band, learning guitar, using sound engineering technology or learning the fundamentals of music theory and composition. Students can gain the skills necessary to become proficient on new instruments if they are interested as well.Â
