The Ridgefield Public Schools is proud to serve a growing community of multilingual learners, and we are committed to supporting the language development and academic success of every student learning English.
Students who are identified as English Learners (ELs)/Multilingual Learners (MLs) receive targeted instruction in English language development while also participating in the full range of academic and social experiences available in our schools. Our goal is to support students in becoming proficient in English while honoring and building upon the rich linguistic and cultural assets they bring to the classroom.
We provide English language development services through EL tutors who work closely with general education teachers to support language growth in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Services may be delivered in a variety of ways - through small-group instruction and/or in-class support —based on each student’s individual English language proficiency level and learning needs.
Families play an important role in this process, and we are here to partner with you every step of the way.
If your child is an English Learner or you have questions about how language support services work in Ridgefield, please reach out to our EL Services Coordinator:

We are currently building a dedicated English Learner & Multilingual Learner Services website, which will launch in Fall 2025. It will include detailed information about program models, language proficiency assessments, family resources, and how we celebrate multilingualism across our schools.
In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly - we’re here to help you navigate services, answer questions, and support your child’s success.
