Programs and Services Overview
The Office of Special Services is committed to ensuring that every student in Ridgefield Public Schools has access to the supports they need to succeed—academically, socially, emotionally, and functionally. We offer a wide range of student-centered services and specialized programs, all grounded in the belief that every learner deserves to be included, challenged, and supported.
On the following pages, you’ll find detailed information about the many supports available through our department. These include:
Special education programs that provide individualized instruction, accommodations, and modifications across a continuum of settings
Related services, such as speech-language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, counseling, and behavioral support
English Learner (EL) services to support language development and access to the curriculum for multilingual students
Homebound and hospitalized instruction for students unable to attend school due to medical or mental health needs
Services for students experiencing homelessness, in alignment with the McKinney-Vento Act
Section 504 accommodations for students with disabilities who do not require specialized instruction
Other targeted supports, including transition planning, audiological services, and assistive technology
Each service area is designed and delivered in close collaboration with families, school teams, and community partners. Our goal is to provide individualized, inclusive, and high-quality supports that empower students to thrive in school and beyond.
