Precollege Summer Institutes
UCLA Precollege Summer Institutes provide high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while advancing their skill set in one area of study. Precollege Summer Institutes are available in a wide range of subject areas in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM.
Precollege Summer Institutes range in length from one to three weeks and are open to high school students 14 years of age or older.

Summer Courses
With over 100 Summer Courses, high school students 15 years of age or older may enroll in one or two college courses alongside our UCLA students. Summer courses range in length from 3-10 weeks, with the majority of offerings lasting 6-weeks.
Students may consider Summer Courses, Summer Online, or Summer Intensives for their academic experience. See the list of approved summer courses for high school students below:
To apply for Summer Scholars Support, you must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
You are attending grades 8 – 11 as of Spring 2022 in a California high school (international or out-of-state students are not eligible);
You have not received UCLA Summer Scholars Support in the past;
You will be a continuing high school student in Fall 2022 (current seniors graduating in Spring 2022 are not eligible);
You have a family annual adjusted gross income (AGI) of $100,000 or less; and
You have applied to or are currently enrolled in 2022 UCLA Summer Sessions, either a Summer Course, a Precollege Summer Institute, or the UCLA Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP or eSCIP).
Payment of the nonrefundable registration fee is required (with the exception of those applying for Deferred Deposit – for information on Deferred Deposit, see “Deferred Deposit” below).

GREAT NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING CAREERS WITHIN THE FIELD OF HEALTHCARE
A 2-week program (Open to all high school students) to participate in an interactive learning environment, highlighting patient care and careers in Allied Health, Behavioral Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. Students will receive the opportunity to meet and speak with professionals from multiple health careers. A third week of shadowing is also offered to students 17 ½ years of age and older.
Dates of participation: July 10th-July 22nd

-One letter of recommendation
-Strong essay: How will participating in the Discovery Program help you make a difference in your community and impact your future educational goals? *200 words minimum*

Summer College Immersion Program
The Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) combines co-curricular components, such as workshops on college admissions and seminars on leadership, with 1-2 UCLA courses, giving participants a comprehensive look into college life.
