WHAT IS IT?
The California Dream Act allows undocumented & nonresident students (U.S. Citizens and eligible non-citizens) who qualify for a non-resident exemption under Assembly Bill 540 (AB 540) to receive certain types of financial aid such as: private scholarships funded through public universities, state administered financial aid, university grants, community college fee waivers and Cal Grants.
In addition, the California Dream Act allows eligible students to pay in-state tuition at any public college in California.
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
STUDENTS WHO MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA QUALIFY TO APPLY:
You are an undocumented student
You are not a U.S. Citizen
You are not a US citizen but you have attended a CA high school for at least 3 years and will graduate from a CA high school
You DO NOT have a social security number (A social security number (ITIN) that was issued to you for work purposes does not count)
IS IT SAFE TO APPLY?
"The information provided via the California Dream Act Application is used solely to determine eligibility for state financial aid and isn't shared with the federal government or used for immigration enforcement purposes. The CSAC will protect this information to the fullest extent of the law."
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER.
DACA & California Dream Act (CADAA) are NOT related. They are two different things.
You DO NOT need DACA to complete the California Dream Act
Your parents citizenship status DOES NOT impact your eligibility to receive financial aid under the Cal Dream Act (CADAA)
