It takes a lot of time and empathy for someone to understand some of these topics, and even longer if they've already come to a conclusion to LGBTQ+ discourse. Within school grounds, report this immediately to a trusted staff member or even reception. You'll have to react to obvious bigotry with strength, but if you encounter it try to report it to authorities or someone who will be able to help.
There is also subtle bigotry/discrimination that may be ingrained within laws, contracts, environments. An example of discrimination in the law is if you can be denied healthcare because of a trans identity. An example of discrimination in environments is lacking a ramp for people in wheelchairs (Yes! Gendered bathrooms are in fact non-binary discrimination - though it is legal at the moment #freethepee).

What we aim to accomplish is the liberation of ethically neutral diversities.
Pronouns are extremely important in making trans and gender diverse people feel safe, accepted, and comfortable. Soemone using the incorrect pronouns for someone, or misgendering them in any way can cause immense mental distress in them. A study found that up to two thirds of trans and gender diverse people had self-harmed in the last year and 22% - 43% of trans or gender diverse people have attempted suicide in their lifetime. Acceptance and showing that you support them can help dramatically decrease the effect on mental illness on their life.
