WHY ARE BOOKS BANNED?

Imagine going into our school library, and finding out that your favorite book has been banned from the bookshelf for being offensive.

The reasons for banning some books included: sharing ideas of another political party, being offensive towards a group of people, being too vulgar with its language, too explicit content and many other reasons .

Some books are censored or even banned from libraries or bookstores. For example, some historical books are said to be offensive or even too political, and even too explicit. One book that is still offensive to some people today is the Bible. This book can be found in most libraries in the religious section. In other libraries, it may be in the historical section or not even on the shelves.

In the early 2000s, over one hundred books were banned from libraries. That doesn’t mean that people stop reading these books or teaching them in their classrooms. Some banned books included: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, My Brother Sam Is Dead by John Lincoln Collier, Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume, and many more. This does not include in the classroom and our own homes. The banned books were banned for just a certain time in history. Most of the banned books are taught in schools , and can be checked out of libraries now.
