Oh, Christmas Tree!

This is a fun, out-of-the box idea for a Christmas tree. It manages to keep the Christmas spirit going while adding a pop of color to your world, and it’s so easy to find decorations to match! Just don’t eat it!
After setting up your tree, wrap it in red or white lights, somewhat far apart, in a spiral motion up the tree. Then, take your red tinsel/garland and repeat the motion either above the lights for that classic candy cane look, or on top of them to give the appearance that the garland is glowing. If you’re having trouble finding a tree topper, take some candy cane themed ribbon and tie a big bow around the top of your tree. Adorn with spaced-out red and white ornaments, or just straight-up candy canes!
Do you like the classic look of Christmas trees, but can never seem to quite achieve it once you’ve put all of those home-made and hand-me-down ornaments up? This is the perfect tree for a classic, Christmassy feel.
Start with your classic, big, green tree. Make a vertical motion around the tree with lights, until the area is thoroughly covered. If you wish to put tinsel (preferably a white or champagne gold color) on your tree, you can now do that in a spiral motion around the tree to oppose the vertical lines of the lights. This brings out the tinsel more, and makes the lights more of an accessory. Now, take some gold and white ornaments and place them sparingly on the tree, leaving room for a few red and silver ones here and there to add a perfect pop of color. Finally, place your star or angel atop the tree, look back, and admire. Plus, if you really need to have those home-made ornaments on display, why not hang them off the garland around your living room? Or perhaps, have a 4ft. tree in the den, or other area, specifically for those ornaments.
Not a fan of Christmas joy? Feel pressured to put up a tree because you’re hosting the party this year? Really like The Nightmare Before Christmas? Well, here’s a TNBC-themed tree for you!
Start out with a dark green tree. The darkest green you can find. If you can find a black one, that’s even better! Get some bulbous, white lights with a cord that will blend in to the tree well. We’re not talking your average Christmas lights, we’re talking some of these bad boys.
These come in multiple colors, so if you need to get multiple strings, try getting white and purple.
Once you’ve got these wrapped around your tree, get yourself some black and white decorations—bonus points if they’re vertical stripes. Perhaps get some ribbon to go around your tree as a garland—or you could tie them into cute bows. Then, get some white and purple ornaments to decorate your tree with. Try to get something snowflake shaped, so as to bring that actual Christmas element back into it. Get some silver icicles (yes, the annoying ones that you have to vacuum up for weeks) and toss those on randomly. For added effect, get some plain, white, spherical ornaments and print out or paint little Jack Skellington faces to go on them. If you want to bring out the lights further, add in some plain gold ornaments. All of the ornaments should, ideally, be spherical and uniform to some degree to match Jack Skellington’s very much spherical head. If you have any old, decorative cotton spider webs from Halloween left over, throw those on there as snow (or just webs, if it’s getting a little too festive) and voila! Nightmare Before Christmas Tree!
This tree is perfect for cowboys who want to not only embrace their southern side, but also embarrass their kids in front of their significant other this holiday.
Start by getting a plain, old, green tree. If you insist on adding lights, go for simple white/gold ones. Instead of using garland for this tree, you’re going to want to wrap rope around this tree. Do this loosely, allowing the rope to naturally form curls and add character. Adorn your tree with red and gold ornaments. If you’re really committed, try finding some horse ornaments or making them yourself by getting toy horses, poking a hole through the ear with a thick needle, and using twine to hang it up. For a tree topper, throw on your old cowboy/cowgirl hat and tie a red bandana around it. You’re ready to git on with Christmas.
