Ravenna district's own recognized by popular rock band
By Mara Ressler - Pink Floyd invited a new generation of animators to compete in a competition, moderated by Aubrey "Po" Powell of Hipgnosis, to make music videos for any of the 10 songs on the classic 1973 album, as part of the ongoing celebration of the record's 50th anniversary. Since the band's inception, Pink Floyd has worked closely with animators such as Ian Emes and Gerald Scarfe; in fact, in certain instances, the music and its accompanying graphics have come to be associated with each other. The group provided animators with a chance to showcase their original interpretations of these classic musical pieces. Animators were allowed to submit up to ten videos, one for each album song. The panel of judges will choose the winners. (Continued Here: Feature)
Ravenna woman indicted on 23 counts of aggravated arson
By Angelina Fuller- The 64 year old woman set a fire in March in the Hazen Avenue apartment building.
She has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Eleven of the arson counts are first degree felonies, specifying that the woman "by means of fire or explosion, knowingly (created) a substantial risk of serious physical harm to any person other than the offender." The other twelve counts are second degree felonies for "physical harm to any occupied structure." The woman had supposedly set a fire in the middle of her living room on the second floor. She then opened the sliding glass door and watched it spread to the rest of the building. (Continued Here: Outside the Times)
FUN FACT
By Haden Decker - Fun facts are always so fun because you get to learn new things in a short span of time. Like a platypus is venomous, they might look cute and cuddly but come across a male platypus in mating season and you’ll be in for a painful shock. Male platypuses have a hollow spur on each hind leg connected to a venom secreting gland, and while their venom is very dangerous and a plus is there are no recorded deaths from platypus stings
Who's hiring rn?
By Anna Jackson - Bibbity Bobbity Boo What Can Cane's Do For You?
Cane's is now hiring in Kent, OH. Canes’ starting pay is $15/hr and every 6 months you do a survey and get a 30 cent raise. You can even get gifts the longer you work there. When you’re there for a year you can get a hard hat with all of your coworkers' signatures. If you’re there for 3 years you get a nice embroidered jacket and if you’re there for 5 years you get a fish statue.
The Over/Under
By Anna Jackson - Everyone categorizes Butterfinger as a candy bar that is for old people and not good. It’s even been compared to stale snickers. Which is kind of weird given it doesn’t taste anything like snickers at all.
Butterfinger is such an underrated candy and it’s an all time favorite of mine. I love the peanut butter taste and I really like the texture of it.
In my opinion, it’s one of the best chocolate and peanut butter candy bars there is.

Welcome all you Ravens to Ask Randy! I'm here to answer any and all of your questions. Ask me anything! About school, life, about me, or anything really!
An anonymous birdy asked, “What are the bosco sticks?”
That’s a good question. I actually needed to ask one of my friends to answer it. They are filled with bread with cheese with sauce. It's like a cheese pizza. I hear they are really yummy.
Another anonymous birdy asked, “what is your favorite subject in school counting electives?”
My favorite class is Newspaper because I get to do this. I get to answer all of the questions you the student body have! I’m open to answer any questions! Ask away!
I would say that a strong, STRONG second to Newspaper class would be any woods/metals class. I'm not sure if it's just Mr. Parker, but these classes always interested this Raven!
Our last question is, “ Do you have a nickname? Or a name your friends and family Call you?"
Great question. Everyone calls me Randy back home. The students here call me Randy the Raven.
Don't forget to keep asking me those questions fellow Ravens!
