Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas!
The holidays have come. The seasons of holidays include so many different holidays that aren't just Christmas. These holidays are Hanukkah and Kwanzaa.
The History of Christmas
Christmas is a religious holiday that is celebrated worldwide when Christians celebrate the life of Jesus Christ. During the holiday season Christians go to church to celebrate Jesus, they put up Christmas trees, and exchange gifts with friends and family members. Christmas takes place on December 25th every year no matter what day of the week it falls. The tradition of decorating Christmas trees started in Europe in Germany during the 16th century when people would use decorations like apples, nuts, and candles.
The History of Hanukkah
Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday and is an eight day long celebration. The word Hanukkah, which means “dedication” and it is the festival that honors the rededication of the Temple after the Greek occupation of Jerusalem, also known as the holy land. Some traditions of Hanukkah are lighting a menorah, playing a game with a dreidel, eating fried food, singing songs, and exchanging gifts. A menorah is a multi-branched candelabra that holds candles that are lit each night of Hanukkah. A dreidel is a four sided spinning top that is used to play a game during Hanukkah.
The History of Kwanzaa
Kwanzaa was created in 1966 by Maulana Ron Karenga. Kaengas created Kwanzaa to reaffirm and restore African heritage and culture and to introduce and reinforce the Nguzo Saba or the Seven Principles. Kwanza serves as a nationally celebrated communal and non-heroic holiday. This holiday is also used to spend time with family and to celebrate African American culture. Some traditions of Kwanzaa are lighting candles, having a feast, and exchanging gifts.
How to Build a Snowman
There are so many things you can do when it snows, but one of the most popular activities is to build a snowman. It is a simple process to make a snowman, but there are a few steps that you should follow to ensure success. First, it is important to use snow that is good packing snow. Next, you need three snowballs: one big one, one medium, and one small. Now, stack the three snowballs on top of each other to form the shape of the snowman. Finally, find some sticks to make arms. Of course, arms are not needed, but they are an extra decorative feature to make your snowman more personalized. You may also want to consider adding decorations like a colorful hat for the top of the snowman's head, a scarf for his neck, some rocks for his eyes and mouth, a carrot for his nose, and buttons going up the snowman's chest.
