Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Inc.
"Rescue One Til There Are None"
At Rat Terrier Rescue Canada, we believe every dog deserves a chance to thrive in a nurturing environment. Our commitment is to rescue Rat Terriers and other dog breeds from shelters, puppy mills, and unstable conditions, providing them with the essential medical care, affection, and support they need to prosper as well as matching dogs with adopters to give them the life they deserve.
We rescue Rat Terriers and other dogs from high-risk environments, providing comprehensive medical care, rehabilitation, and socialization to prepare them for adoption.
We streamline the adoption process by carefully pairing dogs with loving families, taking into account compatibility, lifestyle, and unique needs. Our comprehensive adoption procedure guarantees the most favorable results for both the dogs and their new families.
We participate in educational initiatives to increase awareness of responsible pet ownership, the significance of spaying and neutering, and the truth about puppy mills. By conducting community outreach programs and events, we strive to cultivate a culture of empathy, social engagement, and support for animal welfare.
We advocate for the well-being of Rat Terriers and other dogs, actively supporting laws and policies that protect animal rights and combat animal cruelty. We provide ongoing support and resources to adopters to guarantee a smooth transition and successful integration of the dogs into their new homes.
Today is the last day, for many dogs in shelters.
The shelters are overflowing and can’t keep up. The dogs are not sick, or elderly, or aggressive ... but otherwise healthy dogs found wandering in the streets or owner surrenders, who were unfortunately surrendered to a high kill shelter.
High kill shelters exist because there are just too many dogs and no laws to protect them from further breeding. In high kill shelters in the southern states, a dog's days are numbered. If the shelter is too full that day, then the dogs will be euthanized that day!(without a chance of ever being adopted )
In some cases they were abandoned because their human passed away. Some are puppies only here because their mom and dad were strays, who were never spayed or neutered. Maybe their parents barely survived instead of flourishing in a loving forever home. Some are injured or dumped because they can no longer breed for profit or returned after being placed in the wrong home.
For whatever reason - their time is up.
But they all have one thing in common - we are their only hope of survival. That’s why we do this thing called “Rescue”. That’s our mission, and we are prepared to sacrifice our time, getting dogs out of shelters and taking those who are unwanted or abused and getting them their own “forever homes.”
We will take as many dogs as we can from various sources, provided we have the foster homes available to foster them until a forever home is found.
Everyone can help save lives by fostering, adopting, volunteering and donating.
The word "We" in a rescue means an entire village of people working endless volunteer hours with hopes of saving as many dogs as our volunteers can manage.
