Adoptions
Rat Terrier Rescue Canada is open to prospective adoptive families in the Ontario area and may consider adoptions in other provinces if logistics can be arranged. The organization aims to find the most suitable rescue match by considering both the dog's history and the needs of the adoptive family.
Each dog possesses a unique blend of traits: personality, temperament, energy levels, compatibility with children and other pets, as well as medical requirements. We consider all these aspects when finding a forever home for them. Our placement process is meticulous, ensuring that each dog is matched with the most suitable adoptive family, with the aim of providing a lifelong, permanent home.
All dogs up for adoption are spayed or neutered upon reaching the appropriate age and are current with their vaccinations. Should a puppy not be old enough, the adopter is required to submit proof of spay or neuter to finalize the adoption process.
Note: Our adoption process is comprehensive, as we take all necessary steps to ensure that our dogs are placed in their permanent homes and never end up homeless again!

Cost of Rescue
Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help Rat Terrier Rescue Canada cover vaccination and medical costs for all of the dogs that we rescue. Veterinarian costs can be extra high for some dogs, such as leg amputations for unhealed and untreated breaks in limbs, heartworm treatment for dogs not put on prevention in high risks areas, various eye surgeries due to infections that were never treated and even metal fragment removal for dogs that were shot at.
The transportation costs for bringing these unfortunate dogs to Canada have risen sharply.
Consequently, all funds collected from adoption fees and donations are directly allocated to assist other dogs in need.
Although the vetting costs for a dog that requires comprehensive care can be substantial, these expenses are usually shared.
