Curriculum Overview

The first component of our academic program is a rigorous curriculum that exceeds state standards and reflects the district's mission to educate students for the 21st century.  The Understanding by Design (UbD) framework is used for curriculum writing with the backwards design process being initiated at the department level to make sure all courses reflect the larger vision of the department and district.  The units are collaboratively created by the teachers and continually updated.

Curriculum comes from Latin and means "the course to run."  The Ramsey K-12 curriculum serves as the "course" that students will run from the day they enter Kindergarten until their graduation from Ramsey High School.  To help us determine the best course and in partnership with all district stakeholders we have constructed a Profile of a Ramsey Graduate, which outlines the competencies that we believe a graduate will possess when they complete their education in the Ramsey School District.  This Profile serves as the ultimate goal that our K-12 curriculum aims to achieve.

Courses in 2023-24 will be taught at the Honors/AP and College Prep levels in all disciplines Grades 9-12.  Special Education or Resource courses are offered according to students’ needs.
