Ramsey highlighted in recent national newsletter

Our district was recently highlighted in Envision Learning Partners May newsletter. They wrote, "The Ramsey School District, in New Jersey, made impressive advances in its performance assessment system this year, building out its “Profile Projects” and defenses of learning for seniors, all explicitly aligned to the Profile of the Ramsey Graduate. In this project, ELP was thrilled to collaborate with the guru of Understanding by Design, Jay McTighe." Click here for the full article.

We have a lot to be proud of in Ramsey. During a challenging year, there is still so much to celebrate. At the May 25th BOE meeting, student and faculty excellence was recognized in the above video. Please enjoy!

At the May 11th BOE meeting, the district's nurses were recognized for their outstanding work throughout the year. They have all risen to the occasion and our district is forever in their debt.

10th Grader wins nj Science contest

Congrats to 10th Grader Arielle Huang for her winning work in the NJ State Science Day competition. ⁦The purpose of the competition is to acknowledge high school students’ use of science and engineering practices to define a problem in your community with a focus on its marginalized and/or underserved members, and to design a solution. Arielle solution was titled “The Prevention of Vector-Borne Diseases in NJ” and she was supported by her high school chemistry teacher, Ms. Shurminsky.

11th Grader has manuscript accepted to research journal

Congrats to 11th Grader Caroline Joo who had a manuscript accepted to the Journal of Student Research. The reviewers accepted her manuscript asking for no revisions and giving it 5 out of 5 in all four categories: Significance, Originality, Quality, and Clarity. They found the claims of the paper which was titled "Reduction Mammoplasties in Adolescents: Examining Motivations and Resources Available to Patients" to be novel and supported by evidence. Her manuscript has been sent to production with an anticipated publication by the end of the school year.

Each Dater 5th Grader completes a TED Talk on a topic of their choice as their Profile Project. This year, students recorded their own TED Talks at home after working on them under the supervision of their teachers throughout the school year. They are posted here on Flipgrid and I encourage you to check them out!

Turning profile projects into action

Five Tisdale third graders took their Profile Project one step further by taking action in their community and raising enough money to plant 155 new trees with the Team Trees organization. They planned it all on their own and were extremely enthusiastic explaining to each customer about their cause.
