Why can't I connect to csu-net?

There are a number of reasons why you might be having trouble connecting to the wi-fi.

1.) Try different locations on campus. Some locations have poorer connection than others.

2.) Check with others to see if there appears to be a wifi outage. You can also see if there are any outages on the System Status Notification site.

3.) Forget csu-net, restart your device, and try to connect again. Instructions on how to forget a network can be found under the Table of Contents.

4.) Use the manual configuration found on the wireless FAQ where applicable (mostly Android phones, Chromebooks, and Linux).

5.) Go to eid.colostate.edu. Under 'Modify your NetID', select 'Show My Information' and log in without using autofill. If you're unable to log in, reset your password (instructions are found on our Password Support page).

6.) Forget the csu-eid and csu-guest networks. Instructions on how to forget a network can be found on this page.

7.) Make sure your computer is up-to-date. The following versions are not able to use csu-net:

  • MacOS: High Sierra or below.

  • Windows: Windows 8 or below.

  • If your Chromebook does not have an option to enter a domain suffix name, it is incompatible.

Why can't I see/connect to any networks?

Please restart your device and perform any updates that have yet to be installed. This is likely caused by an outdated/corrupted wireless adapter.

How to update wireless drivers on a Windows computer:

1.) As above, please ensure all updates are downloaded. This includes optional driver updates.

2.) Go to 'Device Manager'

3.) Find 'Network Adapters' and open the list.

4.) Look for anything in that list which resembles a network adapter. It can seem daunting, but generally look for drivers with the following keywords:

  • Wireless Adapter

  • Wireless AC

  • Realtek

  • NETGEAR

  • Intel

  • Qualcomm

5.) Select 'uninstall device' and check the box that says 'Delete the driver software for this device'.

6.) Restart your computer, which will prompt your computer to redownload the driver. Check 'Device Manager' again to make sure it was downloaded.

7.) If the download isn't automatic upon restart, please find an Ethernet connection to use temporarily while your computer updates. If you don't have access to one, come into the Computer Diagnostics Center.
