NetID/eID Support
This page describes frequently asked questions for issues related to your CSU account.
Table of Contents:
What is an eName/eID/NetID/CSUID?
At CSU, you have several different ID numbers and usernames tied to your account. Here is a breakdown of the terminology and what they are:
eID - The old system replaced by NetID. Generally referred to your eName and CSUID combined.
NetID/eName - The username you set up for your account.
This is NOT your email address. Your email address and NetID look similar, but adding/omitting @colostate.edu matters!
CSUID - Your 9-digit ID number without the "C" in front of it.
What happens when my NetID expires?
When you're no longer affiliated with the university, your account will eventually expire. You will receive an email with this expiration date to your CSU email.
What this means is that you will no longer have access to your CSU emails, Google Drive, Office 365, Canvas, RAMweb, etc. Please transfer all data you wish to save from your CSU accounts to personal accounts within that period. A month after your account is deactivated, everything will be deleted.
How do I find out what my NetID is?
Your CSUID:
Your CSUID is the 9-digit number assigned to you when you first joined/applied to CSU.
Your NetID:
If you're a CSU Fort Collins student, staff, or faculty that joined the university prior to Summer 2023, your NetID is the same as your eName - it will be the username you set up when you first created your account.
If you're a CSU Pueblo student, staff, or faculty, or CSU Fort Collins after Summer 2023, your NetID is C + your CSUID (Ex: C123456789).
If you're still unsure, contact one of these groups to learn what your account information is:
If you're a student, please contact the Registrar's Office at registrarsoffice@colostate.edu or 970-491-4860.
If you're faculty, staff, or an affiliate, please contact Human Resources at MyHR@colostate.edu or 970-491-6947.
My account shouldn't be deactivated yet, why can't I log in?
The password reset requirements still apply to those with expiring accounts! Follow the steps on our Password FAQ to reset your password, and see if that resolves the issue.
