Returning Affiliates

This page describes frequently asked questions for students, staff, and affiliates returning to CSU.

My NetID has been reactivated, why can't I sign in?

If your NetID expired, but your affiliation was updated by HR, you'll likely still need to reactivate your NetID.

1.) Go to netid.colostate.edu.

2.) Select "Activate".

3.) Enter your old/current NetID information.

Afterwards, you should be all set! Allow 24 hours for everything to update in the system, especially if you've been gone for a while.

Why do I have two CSUIDs/NetIDs?

The normal process for returning affiliates is to simply reactivate the old account, not create a new one. If you were accidentally granted a new CSUID or NetID when you returned to the university, please contact the following groups:

Why can't I sign into my email?

If when you joined the university, you were given an @rams.colostate.edu email as your primary address, you may have issues logging in if your account was reactivated recently. Your CSU email is now through Outlook. To access it:

1.) Go to outlook.office.com

2.) Sign in with your NetID/eName@colostate.edu and your CSU password.

3.) Authenticate with Duo 2-Factor Authentication.

Users can still opt into having a Gmail, which you can learn more about here.

If this clarification doesn't resolve the issue, please see our Email Assistance FAQ.
