How do I download Office 365 through the university?

1.) Go to portal.office.com.

2.) Sign in with your NetID/eName@colostate.edu and your CSU password. This will be the same password you use for Canvas, Ramweb, the AAR site, etc.

3.) Click 'Install Office' and select 'Office 365 apps'.

4.) Follow the instructions on the installer.

WARNING FOR WINDOWS USERS: When installing Office, make sure to uncheck 'Allow this organization to manage my device' if it appears. It is checked by default, and proceeding with these permissions will cause problems! If you did this by accident and want to resolve the issue, please see the instructions on this page.

"Editing Not Allowed" on Mac, or Microsoft cache issues

If you're having issues on Mac with Microsoft products, including "editing not allowed" or old/incorrect accounts being logged into automatically, this is usually caused by an error in the cached login or licensing information.

The easiest solutions are:

1.) Sign out and sign back in using your eName/NetID@colostate.edu (More information on your email can be found on the Email Assistance page).

2.) Uninstall and reinstall Office 365.

If this does not resolve the issue, follow the instructions below to clear the cached Microsoft account information from your Mac. If you need assistance with these instructions, we recommend seeking out in-person support.

1.) Sign out of every Microsoft app on your computer. It is usually not necessary to sign out of Microsoft accounts on your browser or mail applications, but it may be worth doing if you find that the issue persists even after following these instructions.

2.) Uninstall the programs you just signed out of.

3.) Open Finder and select "Go" in the bar at the top of your screen.

4.) Show the Library folder by pressing "command" (or "option", on some Macs), then open it.

5.) In your Library folder, search for the following folders and remove anything in them with a Microsoft-related name (ms, Office, OfficeOsfWebHost, etc.)

6.) Go to your System Settings > Passwords, then delete every Microsoft-related password.

7.) Open Finder again, then go to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access. Delete everything Microsoft-related or including "adal" in the name, from your keychain.

8.) Now reinstall the Microsoft apps and sign in again.

Why is CSU making me change my PIN?

If you're on Windows 10/11 and seeing issues related to your organization managing your account, this is probably because you had the 'Allow my organization to manage this device' box checked when you installed Office 365. In order to resolve this, follow the steps below:

1.) Search 'Access work or school' and navigate to the settings page.

2.) Select your CSU email and press 'Disconnect'.

3.) Sign back in through one of your Office 365 applications.

If the issues persist, uninstall Office 365 and follow steps 1-2 again. When you reinstall Office, make sure to uncheck 'Allow my organization to manage this device' when it appears.
