What is Singapore doing?

Earth Hour

Lights out for landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer and Esplanade to mark the start of Earth Hour every year.

Reverse Vending Machines

NEA and F&N have embarked on an initiative to roll out a total of 50 smart Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) across Singapore. This aims to encourage Singaporeans to adopt an eco-conscious lifestyle by offering them a convenient and rewarding way to recycle. For every twenty empty plastic drink bottles and/or aluminium drink cans deposited into the RVM, the user will be rewarded with a $0.20 FairPrice discount coupon.

Bring Your Own Campaign

Zero Waste SG started the Bring Your Own (BYO) Singapore movement in 2017 where retailers offered incentives to customers who bring their own reusable bags, bottles or containers. The campaign involved 430 retail outlets and reduced over 2.5 million pieces of plastic disposables!

Community in Bloom

Community In Bloom is a nationwide gardening movement that aims to foster a community spirit and bring together residents, both young and old, to make Singapore our garden.

No Straws, Please!

Since 1 July 2019, more than 270 food and beverage outlets have stopped providing plastic straws, a major step to reduce plastic waste in the local F&B sector. The move is part of a voluntary WWF initiative called Plastic Action Pact, where businesses commit to reduce the amount of unnecessary plastics used.
