COGITARE!

Cogitare regularly sets time aside for environmental activities during CCA sessions. Members are split into 3 main OTs - Butterfly Garden, Biodiversity, and Environment Hub. The Butterfly Garden OT is in charge of revamping our Butterfly Garden (found behind the canal), to make it a more interactive and popular green location! The Biodiversity team is split into sub-groups conducting a study of the biodiversity in our school campus, such as our plant diversity and insect diversity. Finally, the Environment Hub is in charge of environmental publicity, through platforms like our newsletter and this website! Along with other environmental groups, Cogitare also organises our annual Earth Day activities, aiming to promote greater ownership over the environment. In addition, as part of our Innovation and Design sessions, teams propose environmentally friendly solutions to day-to-day problems, like an air purifier made of plants, and the use of seeds to remove heavy metals from water and soil.

Project Glowing

Project Glowing is a Year 2 CmPS group advocating for reduction in plastic usage. Singaporean youths aged 13-16 use lots of plastic, which negatively impacts the environment. Insufficient action is taken to reduce plastic usage(eg. Bringing your bag) as our survey with 406 respondents from different secondary schools showed that 47% of youths use new plastic products once a week and 27.8% of the respondents use new plastics daily. We hope that we can encourage youths to reduce their plastic usage as the negative effects of global warming is bad for everyone.

Project Minimi(se)

Project Minimi(se) is a Y2 CmPS group, and we are advocating for the reduction of plastic waste produced by teenagers in Singapore by encouraging them to increase their rate of recycling. Through this project, we hope to:

  1. encourage teens to recycle more plastic,

  2. teach teens how to lead a more eco-friendly lifestyle, and

  3. encourage teenagers to minimise their plastic usage to the smallest possible amount so that less plastic waste will be produced.

Project Teflon

Project Teflon is a Year 2 CmPS group advocating for the reduction of excessive plastic usage among Singaporean youth aged 12 to 16. We hope to be able to reduce the amount of plastic used and therefore, the negative impacts it has on the environment. The reason why we are passionately advocating for this cause because we feel that plastic pollution is a very pressing and prevalent problem in today’s age. We feel that if everyone plays their part to reduce their plastic consumption, we can reduce the negative effects of plastic pollution greatly!

Project Terra

Project Terra is an SVIA group, passionate about advocating for the environment through raising awareness about pollution and reducing the carbon footprint within and beyond school. We hope that, through our initiatives, we are able to cultivate greener habits and save the environment together as a school. This year, we are mainly focusing on the topic of Consumerism. We aim to spread awareness about its causes, impacts on the environment and what we can do to combat it.

The Wild Side

The Wild Side is a SVIA group advocating for conservation of biodiversity. We feel that there is a lack of knowledge on our natural environment, especially regarding biodiversity and actions taken when encountering certain species of wildlife. There is also a lack of awareness and appreciation of wildlife in our community. We encourage our school population to be more involved in wildlife related activities by providing platforms and opportunities. Do check out our instagram for events, updates and interesting facts on wildlife!

Hello! We are Project Smallfoot, a Y2 Community Problem Solving group from RGS advocating for the reduction of carbon footprint through the reduction of air-conditioning usage. We aim to educate and advocate for the reduction of the usage of air conditioning to reduce Singapore's carbon footprint. We believe that even the smallest reduction of carbon footprint in our daily lives will contribute to an overall decrease in our carbon footprint. According to CNA Why It Matters, if every Singaporean were to increase the temperature of their air-conditioning by 1 degree, for example, it would result in a 5% decrease in Singapore’s total energy consumption and cost.
