Digital Learning

We are reviewing our use of technology in teaching and learning. To inform our action planning, we are using the SELFIE tool to assist us. SELFIE is a free, easy-to-use, customisable tool to help schools assess where they stand with learning in the digital age.  This video below gives a good overview of the process we are using.

School leaders, teachers and pupils (3rd to 6th classes) will complete the SELFIE questionnaire to inform our action plan

Research projects

Pupils from Second Class are encouraged to undertake research projects from time to time to empower them with the skills find out information about a particular topic. It can also help discover interesting information. Often the projects relate to countries around the world.

One of the main skills we want to develop is creating awareness of good sources of information. Some pupils have a habit of going straight to a search engine and typing in the title of the project. However, this may return information with a commercial bias and furthermore, information may not be reliable. We encourage all children to go to scoilnet.ie in the first instance and then access the online encyclopedia available to them. At the moment, Britannica online is available free of charge to all Irish students.
