HOW OUR ICL/CIT
These programs are designed as fun "course" in a hands-on, learning/working environment with a concentration in life, social and community building skills. This program gives students the opportunity to participate in age specific advanced activities, be responsible for their time, attend field trips, learn how to properly and appropriately mentor younger children. Our goal is to give our Jr Leaders a successful, engaging and fun summer that they will remember and take with them on their journey through life.
We hope students who attend our program will learn and develop: Leadership qualities and traits; Mentoring skills and how to lead by example; How to follow a directive; What community service is and why it’s important to "lend a hand"; How to be responsible for themselves and their actions as well as work ethic and simple and fun basic life skills.
In addition these Jr ICL and CIT's will learn how to:
How to work with and effectively use our codes of conduct (the 6 Pillars of Character) & our Motto “I Have What it Takes to Make Myself Great”
How to plan and organize activities while assisting in the set-up of those activities
Direct own planned activities "Free Time"
How to work with unsupervised time and activities while using that time effectively
A little about themselves and the person they want to be
This experience for students up to 16 years is a tuition based 8 hour a day “course”. Fee for the program is $140 for the week (while helpful in so many ways they still require staff to oversee them) and includes field trips. A minimum commitment of 3 weeks is required for a student to get the benefit of the program. There are no discounted rates for siblings that may be enrolled, partial attendance or not attending field trips.
Hours – 8:00 – 5:00
Students entering into this program must sign a Codes of Conduct contract to include parent signature that will be strictly enforced.
Responsible for: *Please refer to full Summer Contract/Registration and Enrollment forms for additional policies.
Bringing own lunch, snacks, water-drink (no soda please)
Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear such as: sneakers (no flip flops please unless swimming)
Bringing a towel and suit, sunscreen and bug spray daily
Regular camp enrollment form and registration form also need to be filled out and submitted. You can find these under enrollment
This is a fun but serious program. Parents interested in having their child participate must understand this is a hands-on working/learning activity based experience. While students in this program do have their own free time and activities during the day, they will spend part of the day assisting Sr. Staff getting helping gather materials, helping to set-up activities, etc. Although this is a learning experience, the opportunities to have fun and enjoy the summer will be plentiful!!
The rules and contract have been developed over the last few years. They are guidelines to behavior and attitude in the program. We work with all the students but feel the contract gives them a good sense of the expectations the program has for them.
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
In addition to much of the information above our Volunteer program also requires;
A desire to work with and mentor children.
A great work ethic
Commitment to volunteer and to attend the days signed up - similar to a job. We do not allow our volunteers to come and go as they please. We rely on your attendance. We require you to choose days and times throughout the summer that you plan to volunteer. We take volunteer status seriously and the campers look forward to having volunteers with them. We expect you will call us if you are ill or not able to attend for any reason.
