Academics...
1. Early Literacy and Language
Children learn to recognize and write letters, understand that letters make sounds, and begin to read simple words. They build vocabulary through stories, songs, and conversations. Sharing ideas, taking turns speaking, and listening carefully are big parts of our daily routine.
2. Early Math Skills
Through games, songs, and manipulatives, children explore numbers, shapes, patterns, sorting, and counting. They learn about comparing quantities, recognizing numerals, and seeing how math is all around them.
3. Religion and Faith Formation
In a Catholic Pre-K 4 classroom, children learn that they are loved by God. They hear Bible stories, pray together, learn simple hymns, and practice virtues like kindness, patience, and gratitude. Faith is woven into everything we do.
4. Science and Discovery
Children explore God’s world through hands-on experiments and nature studies. They might plant seeds, observe weather, mix colors, or explore textures. Curiosity and wonder guide our science learning.
5. Social Studies and Community
Students learn about families, community helpers, holidays, and the importance of sharing and helping others. They begin to understand that they are part of a larger world.
6. Fine and Gross Motor Development
Children strengthen fine motor skills by cutting, gluing, coloring, and writing. Gross motor play, such as running, jumping, climbing, and dancing, builds coordination and confidence.
7. Creativity and Expression
Art, music, and dramatic play allow children to express themselves freely. Whether painting, pretending, or singing, creativity is celebrated every day!
8. Social–Emotional Growth
Perhaps most importantly, Pre-K 4 teaches children to use their words, share, take turns, and show kindness. They learn how to be a friend, how to solve problems, and how to care for one another.
