1)Introduction: “Today we are going to talk about how to be CAFFU in the bathroom.’”

2) Definition of CAFFU when using the bathroom: See above matrix for expectations.

a. Show the Teaching Poster of Expectations with pictures and walk through the     expectations.

b. Discuss the detail of the expectations with students. 

1)Model Teacher gives examples of what it is to be considerate, accountable, safe, faithful, and unified at the bathroom.

2) Demonstrate examples of not following expectations.

Considerate: Show examples of not respecting other privacy (looking over the stall, etc) and how not to keep the bathroom clean (throwing paper towels on the floor, pressing soap dispenser and letting soap pile up). Accountable: Show examples of not using the bathroom quickly and carefully                      (chatting in the bathroom with others)

Safe: Show examples of finding the floor wet and the dangers of not reporting it immediately.

Faithful: Show examples of how it is not faithful to leave the bathrooms without washing hands. 

Unified: Show examples of how leaving the bathrooms dirty for others would affect unity (wanting to use the bathroom but all toilets are dirty, not wasting water).

3) Choose a couple of students to show examples of following the expectations. 

Considerate: Show examples respecting others privacy (knock on stall door before entering) and how to keep the bathroom clean (throwing paper towels away after washing hands). 

Accountable: Show examples of using the bathroom quickly and carefully (using bathroom for only as long as required).

Safe: Show examples of finding the floor wet and reporting it immediately.

Faithful: Show examples of being faithful by washing hands. 

Unified: Show examples of leaving the bathrooms in a clean condition for others.

4. Discussion: “Tell me how to apply CAFFU to the bathroom.”

1) Have all students line up outside the bathroom, and two at a time come into the bathroom to show how to follow the bathroom expectations with an adult monitoring. 

2) Debrief with students any questions, “Do you have any questions about how to be CAFFU  in the bathroom?”
