PMEA D11 Stringfest

(PMEA District 11) Stringfest is an opportunity provided by the Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA). Students from schools within PMEA District 11 are chosen to participate and perform in a full-day orchestra rehearsal and concert. Students are given the music ahead of time, and are given extra lessons during school to help them with the music if needed. The music is typically more advanced than the student's current level and it is an honor to be nominated. 

There is a 5th-6th Grade ensemble and a 7th-9th Grade ensemble. Each teacher is typically allowed to nominate one student per instrument, per school, per ensemble. Since Perkiomen Valley's elementaries are K-5th Grade and our Middle Schools are 6th-8th, I typically nominate 5th Graders, 6th Graders, and 8th Graders (sorry 7th grade!! You've got next year!!). 

Stringfest is one of the first stages of PMEA's Fests and Festivals. At this stage, students are nominated by their teachers. When students are in 10th grade or above, they can audition for festivals at the District, Regional, or All-State level. Perkiomen Valley is part of PMEA's District 11 (Bucks and Montgomery Counties), and Region IV (Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester Counties).
