We'd love to have you for orchestra this year! Anyone in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade can join the orchestra, but we encourage 3rd grade the most so you can have the most amount of time to learn. We are a pretty big group, we had more than 40 students sign up in 2019 for beginning orchestra and more than 50 sign up in 2021! There is only one concert for 3rd Graders, and a Winter and Spring concert for 4th/5th Graders. If you are interested in joining, use the links below or email me at vsmithgonzalez@pvsd.org.
This is where I post music over the summer! During the school year, music is posted on Google Classroom and this section of the website is not updated. Make sure to choose the packet for the grade you will be in for the 2025-2026 school year.
Google Classroom is where I post our lesson schedules, rehearsal schedules, music, and make announcements. Parents, I highly recommend you join the classroom yourself or subscribe to a weekly summary!
Google Classroom codes will posted in August!
The 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra performs twice a school year. We rehearse once a cycle in the morning before school to prepare for these concerts. Our dress rehearsal will be an extended rehearsal leading up to each concert. All Orchestra concerts will be at Evergreen Elementary.
The Beginner's Concert features the 3rd Grade Orchestra and the 4th Grade Band. This concert is held at Evergreen Elementary. There will be three before-school rehearsals leading up to the concert.

We use the book titled "Essential Elements for Strings Book 1". This book is great for learning how to read music and also comes with an online component to practice along with. It also has "checkpoints" throughout the book that correspond with a belt color. Work your way up to be an Orchestra Black Belt! Check out where our other students are below!
