The Manaiakalani Learn, Create, Share Pedagogy is expressly designed to allow tauira to "live local and learn global".
Our termly themes are designed to connect with real world contexts for learning. Akonga are expected to be "creators of content" and then to share that created content in in a real world context via their blogs.
The image below describes how we expect this to happen
This pedagogy is the foundation and framework for our connections with a wide variety of contacts and connections that are designed to raise awareness and understanding in our tauira and create real partnership with a variety of places of work and vocations.
This year our tauira have met with and had connections with:
KPMG
Politicians
Members of the Public Service
Media
Philanthropists
A variety of commercial representatives
Tertiary educators
Educators from other countries
Educators from other schools in NZ
We are pleased to report that in the latter half of 2023 we began partnership discussions with ANZ about how we can involve our tauira with them and they with us to break down stereotypes, both ethnic and gender.
We are also blessed to have experienced support from Google, the Manaiakalani Hackers and Manaiakalani Education Trust, who have all been significant enablers in this space.
We owe a particular debt of gratitude to KPMG who have not only hosted our children in at their corporate headquarters in Auckland city twice a term, but have also hosted our Manaiakalani Admin Staff and the Manaiakalani Innovative Teachers.
We are also fortunate to be in a long term partnership with Fusion Networks who supply tech support to our schools whilst running micro credentialling and internships for our Manaiakalani Rangatahi.
As our relationship and partnership with Ngāti Paoa grows, we also look forward to growing our tauira through partnership projects focusing on aqui-culture, pātaka and care for our local environment.
