Remote Learning

Learning never stops (no matter what age we are) and it doesn’t have to be restricted to a classroom either. That being said, children flourish with consistency and routine. Introducing structure into the day will ultimately prepare you and your child for learning at home.

We cannot stress enough how important it is for our essential programmes to continue at home, i.e. Literacy (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Phonics) and Maths, as well as our Well-being programme. We recommend 30 minute bursts for each learning area, with regular breaks throughout the day.   The Pohutukawa team have collaborated together to bring you ideas, examples, and links to ensure that the learning doesn’t stop and that you have the tools to continue to support your child at home.

We encourage your child to take some agency with their learning by making appropriate choices and decisions around their own Home Learning timetable. We believe that this will encourage independence and a positive ‘‘buy in’ for learning.

Please watch the video on the link below and help your child construct their own daily learning timetable that fits in with their needs and that of yours as a family -

We encourage you to make learning fun, to positively reaffirm your child’s efforts and achievements and to share these accomplishments with us, their teachers, and others.  Take pictures and/or videos and send them to us, so that we can also acknowledge the learning that is taking place at home, give feedback and feedforward.

As well as the resources we have provided for you attached, another excellent online resource is Studyladder.  Your child’s login has already been provided to you. If you have personally sourced a Reading Eggs login, we also recommend this site.
