Guiding Students to Balance Digital Experiences
We use a program called Family Zone to help guide students to balance digital experiences. Family Zone works with our school district to help create safe digital learning environments and educate students and parents about digital wellness. Family Zone is composed of three tiers:
Linewize Monitor - the filtering software our IT department installs on our school-managed devices to protect students both at school and off campus.
Community Digital Wellness
Live Parent Webinars with our Digital Wellness Educator.
HPS Online Safety Hub - a resource for staff and families to learn about apps and games and get age-appropriate advice.
Qustodio - A parental monitoring app integrated with district devices to give parents insight into how student's are managing device usage on school devices.
Classwize - A student monitoring tool for educators to use during class time.
HPS uses the JAMF Self-Service app to push out apps and app updates. It is located on the dock of all student school-loaned iPads.
We turn off parental control access during the following times:
Monday - Friday, 7:30AM to 3PM
This is to ensure that the students can access the required apps and resources during school hours.
Saturday and Sunday parental controls are on all day.
JAMF Parent App
The free Jamf Parent iOS app empowers parents to manage their children's school-issued iPad (mostly 5th, 6th, 7th graders) if you have a personal iOS mobile device (iPhone, iPad). Through an intuitive interface, you can restrict which apps children can access on their devices and/or lock an iOS device into one or several apps. Taking this step can certainly reduce distractions during study time. Learn how to set up and use this app with your student's school-loaned iPad. Be sure to bring both your iPhone/iPad and your student's iPad.
School-Loaned Device Summer Instructions
If you are in possession of a school-loaned device, please plan to keep it through the summer. When your child is not using it for academic purposes, please be sure to keep it locked up in a safe, secure, and cool location. Otherwise, please follow these general guidelines:
Keep it in a safe and secure location.
Be cautious of summer hazards: liquid, heat, and sand.
Keep your device in the case at all times.
Shut down your device at least once a week.
Keep track and take care of your cables as they are part of the leased equipment and must be returned.
Please review the HPS Lending Agreement and contact us with any questions.
