Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving Break and we are already looking forward to Winter Break!
With only a few days left before the new year, it is important that your student shows up to school on time every day so they can maximize their learning and growth. Let’s make it a New Year’s goal to have better attendance grade-wide!
It is that chilly time of year! Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately by wearing a jacket and a sweater, as well as gloves, hats, scarves, etc. to keep them warm.
Over the break, take some time to read with your child to practice their fluency and comprehension skills. We are focusing on identifying problems and solutions as we read, and synthesizing a story by discussing its theme, or lesson. Ask your students questions like:
What problem did the characters face? How did they solve it?
What did the character learn in the story?
How did the characters change during the story?
How can you connect this story to your own life?
We have also started learning multiplication in math, and are working on mastering our math facts from 1-10. Help your student with quick multiplication quizzes whenever you have time - perhaps while walking home, cooking dinner, or first thing in the morning!
Please do not hesitate to call us at the school, send us an email/Dojo message, or schedule a virtual meeting if you ever have any questions!
Sincerely
Ms. Popoteur, Ms. Theisen and Ms. Schwager
