Our mulching services begin with a cleanup if necessary to prep the beds, which could include pruning or weed control. After the area is completely cleaned up, we bring in our professional grade bed edger to provide a clean edge to all mulching areas, which will create a distinct barrier between the mulched area and grass or asphalt.
After all preparation work has been completed, then we mulch around all appropriate areas using our double shredded hardwood mulch. Our nursery stocks natural hardwood, dyed brown, and dyed black at all times.
If mulching is performed early enough in the season, our estimators will provide the option of applying herbicides to assist with weed control. If you'd like more information about this, please call our office at (540) 860 - 4485.
We offer mulching services to the Charlottesville, Greene, Orange, Madison, Gordonsville, Zions Crossroads, and Rockingham County areas.
Weed Control. When mulching occurs on a routine basis, it blocks light which will assist with preventing weeds from germinating by creating a barrier to stop seeds from taking root. Did you know that weeds can steal up to 25% of the water in your mulch beds that would otherwise reach your plants?
Water Conservation. When mulch is applied it helps the soil retain moisture by blocking the sun without preventing irrigation. By applying mulch on a routine basis, it can slow the evaporation process down by up to 35%!
Soil Health. As mulch begins to decompose, it can improve soil structures which lead to better drainage and nutrient use. Mulching can help prevent soil compaction and erosion too.
Temperature Control. Mulch can act as insulation for your plants, which will provide a protection during hot or cold temperatures.
Plant Health. When mulching on a routine basis, the plants will do much better growth wise. Whether it is protecting the shallow roots from frost or freeze damage, or protecting them from the July sun rays it will provide a barrier between your plants root system and the ground allowing them to grow larger or stronger!
