Scheduling

Scheduling is completed via the Availability Form, which lists all available shifts at each site. Tutors are asked to check off all shifts they are available for and able to work and to return the form to our office with their class schedule (and list of any extracurricular commitments).

Important considerations when selecting shifts include:

      • Schedule: What hours will your schedule permit you to work, allowing you to be punctual and consistent while leaving time for your studies and other responsibilities?

NOTE: Work hours are scheduled so they do not conflict with any of your academic and extracurricular responsibilities.

      • Expectations: What are your expectations for your tutoring work, if any? Does the site(s) you are considering match those expectations?
      • Support: Some sites provide much more structure and support than others. Consider whether the level of support would suit you.
      • Special Interests or Abilities: Would you prefer to focus on math, reading, or a combination? Do you speak several languages? Are you creative, dramatic, and artistic? Can you negotiate computer technology with ease?
      • Philosophy: Are you concerned with contributing to a school setting in which students are considered to have a greater need or one in which curricular choices are important to you?

Based on your answers to these considerations, if you have any preferences regarding your placement, please let us know. Every attempt will be made to schedule tutors at their preferred locations and maximize their hours.

The last day to change your work schedule is the Friday following the Add/Drop/Audit deadline. If you need to change your schedule after this date, you may contact the Program Coordinator to discuss your situation. Changes may be made on a case-by-case basis depending on the circumstances.
