Policies and Expectations

In accepting a tutor position in the America Reads & Counts program, I will to adhere to the standards of excellence expected of me. I agree to all of the following:

Participation

      • Attend each and every scheduled shift I have during the semester.
      • Attend an orientation at the beginning of each semester.

Professionalism

      • Dress in manner that is professional and appropriate for working with children and youth.
      • Keep all personal electronic devices away and not bring them out until I have left my site.
      • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards the students and teachers at my placement site.
      • Share feedback on and questions about my tutee’s academic progress with the supervising teacher or site coordinator.
      • Hold in confidence any information disclosed to me about a tutee, verbally or in reports, by school faculty and staff or by program staff.

Proactive Communication

      • Notify the office and site coordinator at least one week in advance of a planned absence.
      • Notify the office and site coordinator before the start of a tutoring session in the case of illness or an emergency.
      • Notify the office of any challenges or concerns.
      • Respond to emails in a timely manner.

Payroll

      • Sign in and out at the site each time I tutor.
      • Enter time on HR Direct every week by 11:59 PM on Saturday.
      • Track my hours to continue working through April 28, 2021. If I run out of federal funding, I understand that I do not continue entering time on HR Direct and that I am expected to volunteer my time until the end of the semester.

Grounds for Dismissal

      • Falsification of hours.
      • Repeated no call, no show for scheduled tutoring sessions.
      • Five or more absences per semester.
      • Violation of any other America Reads & Counts policies.
