The purpose of this website is to help us to grasp something that we are physically unable to grasp, I am referring to steam. STEAM is a concept that brings up many connotations, expectations, and beliefs, yet as much as we know about the creation of STEAM initiative, we have been unable to define its purpose in the classroom, how it can transform learning, or how it will help out students prepare for their future. When I first became a teacher, some thirty years ago, I did not fully comprehend the potential of the Arts as an educational conduit to connect the many disciplines in a learner's academic career.
One thing that I have learned during my journey as an educator, and life-long learner, is that everything I needed to know as an educator and instructional leader I learned through the Arts. My Performance Driven Instruction(PDI) protocol transforms the 4 Cs (Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication, and Creativity) into a reflective, multi-sensory student-centered learning strategy that focuses on Performance Quality Indicators(PQI) to demonstrate proficiency and most important, understanding.
