African American Developmental Disabilities Parent Advisory Group (AADDPA)

What is AADDPA?
- A social network for parents and caregivers of African American children with disabilities intended to:
  - Provide advocacy and resources to increase awareness of developmental disabilities
  - Support families with culturally tailored information
- An event co-sponsored by the UC Davis Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (CEDD) and WarmLine Family Resource Center.
When:
- Meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 6-8 pm.
Where:
- UC Davis MIND Institute located at 2825 50th Street Sacramento, CA 95817
Is it free?
- Free event, but pre-registration is encouraged.
- Parking on the street is free. Visitor parking permits for the lot can be purchased from dispensing machines for:
  - $6 M-F 12 am – 4:59 pm
  - $3 M-F 5pm - 11:59 pm and all-day weekends

- Ongoing parent support group conducted in Spanish.
- An event co-sponsored by the UC Davis Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (CEDD) and WarmLine Family Resource Center.

What is DSIA?
- A non-profit serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families in the Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Yuba, and Sutter counties.
- DSIA serves by providing online resources as well as local events, programs and resources to the Down syndrome community.
What does DSIA provide?
- Year round events for children, self-advocates, and families
- Parent-to-parent support, networking, and workshops
- Lending library and e-newsletter
- Web-based resources

- A nonprofit organization founded by families and individuals affected by NF.
- Their goal is to “create a community of support for individuals and families affected by Neurofibromatosis through education, patient advocacy, coalitions, raising public awareness, and supporting research and treatments for a cure.”
