Barnstaple Station

Barnstaple Town station, together with Pilton Yard, are modelled around the mid 1920s, before the Lynton and Barnstaple railway closed in 1935. We have tried to model the buildings and track work as it was, with modeller’s licence, for the very short modelled distance (see Barnstaple-Pilton Link Board) between the two locations, in real life just over half a mile.

The low relief station building is scratch built.

The track work within the station environs has created a shunting puzzle in its own right, as adding and removing goods wagons to and from the rear of passenger trains, a regular occurrence on the Lynton and Barnstaple, is quite a challenge.
