Course Description: 8th grade math focuses on topics designed to prepare students for high school algebra and beyond. Students will explore mathematics in the areas of Number Systems, Expressions and Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability.  The topics include: linear and inverse variation, the pythagorean theorem, exponential functions, symmetry and transformations, making sense of symbols, systems of linear equations and inequalities.  Students in Accelerated 8th grade math will also gain exposure to high school algebra standards at the end of the year.
