Instructional Framework Implementation
Implementation of the Instructional Framework is a multi-year process that is in line with our Forward Together Strategic Plan.
Below are the initial goals that we've set related to implementation. We are collecting baseline data in fall of 2022 that we will use to set annual growth targets through 2025.
Phase 2 Advisory Group (2022-23 School Year)
We are relaunching our Instructional Framework Advisory Group for 2022-23. This team will meet 5-6 times throughout the year to:
Provide feedback about the implementation of the instructional framework, including successes and challenges, and inform how we evolve our implementation over time.
Compile an internal resource bank of best practices and artifacts that showcases how our Educators bring the instructional framework to life in PPS classrooms.
Provide input on drafts of our PK-12 Developmental Continuum, which will be a tool that connects to the instructional framework and establishes developmental milestones to benchmark progress towards our PPS Graduate Portrait.
The Phase 2 Advisory group consists of building leaders, teachers, instructional coaches and specialists. Members from our Central Office Implementation Team will join to support the sessions and facilitate discussions.
To ensure we are learning from our school-based staff on the ground, we will be limiting the number of central office teammates who participate in our Advisory Group sessions and will find other venues to discuss implementation. The school-based staff that participated last year have RSVP’d to continue their participation and Area Senior Directors will be reaching out to Principals to include a representative from each school and program that is not yet represented.
Instructional Framework Overview
Our PPS Forward Together Strategic Plan names the development of an integrated instructional framework as a key strategic outcome within the theme of inclusive and differentiated learning for every child.
We collaborated to answer the question “what does highly effective teaching and learning look like in PPS”?
The framework establishes and defines the core elements of standards-aligned instruction we commit to providing all students. The collaboratively developed framework will align us on common language and guide decisions and discussions at the central office, school, and classroom levels as we plan professional learning opportunities.
The Instructional Framework:
Provides a consistent, district-wide vision for teaching and learning that will allow all district stakeholders to align actions and resources to ensure equity of access to high-quality instruction across schools, classrooms, and student demographics.
Identifies a series of components and supporting Look Fors that every PPS student should experience in order to achieve the Graduate Portrait.

Additional Collaboration and Input Opportunities
We will create additional opportunities for collaboration and input, including regular updates and input surveys sent out through Admin Portal and Teacher Connect. We will also stay connected with the following groups throughout this process - PAT Leadership, PAPSA Board, Leadership Meeting Participants, Principal Advisory, RESJ Partners - and identify additional opportunities to engage students, families, and community members as part of the larger strategic plan engagement process.
