The third consular visit to the state of Utah, held this year on September 22 and 23, marked another significant step in supporting the growing Portuguese community in Utah. Organized by the Consulate-General of Portugal in San Francisco, in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate in Utah, this visit enabled dozens of citizens and families to renew essential documents—such as the Citizen Card and Passport—without needing to travel out of state.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of Consular Officer Ana Catarina Pinheiro, whose dedication, humor, and warmth left a lasting impression on all who participated.
The Honorary Consul in Utah, Luis Camara Manoel, expressed gratitude to Ana and to Consul-General Filipe Ramalheira, whose commitment to proximity and accessibility continues to strengthen ties with Portuguese communities in the region.

“This consular support, which Ana and other consular officers have provided over the past three years, has been extremely important for our community—indeed, essential in many cases. Utah is part of a very broad consular jurisdiction that includes 13 states across the Western United States. Despite this, Consul-General Filipe Ramalheira has shown a remarkable commitment to Portuguese communities outside California, where the Consulate-General is based,” said Camara Manoel.

Throughout the day, there was a steady flow of visitors—some seeking to renew documents, others looking to clarify questions about various consular processes. The atmosphere was welcoming and full of sharing, with families exchanging stories, asking questions, and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be served locally.
The visit was further enriched by the presence of Portuguese cuisine, lovingly prepared by TugaTreats.com, a local company specializing in traditional pastries and flavors. Participants delighted in pastel de nata, pão com chouriço, and the delicate Areias de Sintra.
Dates for new consular visits to the state in 2026 will be published on this site in December 2025.
