On January 15th through the 17th, the Portuguese community in Utah welcomed the Honorable Ambassador of Portugal in Washington D.C. This was the first visit of the current Portuguese ambassador to the state of Utah. He was accompanied by the new Consul General of Portugal and San Francisco, Dr. Filipe Ramalheira, by the Honorary Consul of Utah, Luis Camara Manoel, and by the Delegates of AICEP, Pedro Leão, and the Camões Institute for Cooperation and Language, João Caixinha.
This visit served four distinct purposes;
Strengthen institutional ties with the State of Utah
Visit primary, secondary and higher education institutions, within the scope of an agreement signed by the state and Camões, ICL
In partnership with GOEO (Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity), and the World Trade Center, promote Portugal as an attractive investment destination.
Conduct the formal investiture of the Honorary Consulate of Portugal in Utah
The Ambassador’s visit not only strengthens the ties between Portugal and Utah, but also opens new doors for future collaborations and mutual development.
