This AI Prompt Bank is designed to support your thoughtful and ethical use of generative AI as a tool for learning.
Use these prompt templates to plan, question, organise and improve your work, not to replace your own thinking. Always check your course or module guidance to see what AI use is allowed for each assessment.
If you’re unsure of what is allowed, please check the AI use guidance or speak to your teachers.
How to use this AI Prompt Bank
Decide your goal. What do you want AI to help you with? (e.g. planning an essay, revising, clarifying feedback.)
Choose a prompt template. From the sections below, or combine more than one.
Add detail. Include topic, level, word limits, marking criteria, and any specific requirements.
Generate an output, then critique it. Check accuracy, relevance and alignment with your task.
Refine your prompt or use a follow-up prompt (e.g. “Now give me three alternative viewpoints…”) to deepen the output.
Remember: you are responsible for the final work you submit, not the AI tool.
Always follow the AI use guidance included in each assignment brief.
