Winter Concerts
As December break draws nearer, the various POBMS music groups geared up for their concerts. On the 14th and 19th of December, the musicians played and sang beautifully, and earned a well-deserved holiday break! The following groups performed at the concerts:
5th Grade Orchestra (Mr. Geluso)
5th & 6th Grade Chorus (Mrs. McCumiskey)
6th Grade String Orchestra (Ms. DeMilta)
5th & 6th Grade Band (Mr. Galante)
7th & 8th Grade Chorus (Mrs. Martin)
7th & 8th Grade Band (Mr. Beuke)
7th & 8th Grade Symphonic Orchestra (Ms. DeMilta)

Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.
Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School had its annual school musical during the first weekend of December. Directed by Mrs. Catalano (from Pasadena) and Mrs. Martin, with help from Mrs. McCumiskey and Mr. Bergson-Gomm (from Old Bethpage), the POBMS Drama Cadets acted, sang, and danced beautifully in this spirited reproduction of Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. Congratulations to the entire cast and to all who were part of this beautiful program!
Summary: Tevye and his family live in the small Russian town of “Anatevka”. Tevye and his wife, Golde, hope that their five daughters will marry well, but their three oldest girls have other plans! As they attempt to hold on to their “Tradition,” Tevye’s family and their entire community must band together in the face of adversity.

Fiddler on the Roof, Drama: On November 30, December 1, and December 2, the school’s drama club will have a drama performance for Fiddler on the Roof Jr. This play is about a Jewish family in the 1900s that is going through changes in their life. There are dances, songs, and lines that are performed by our schools amazing actors and actresses! On November 30, the show will be at 4:00 in the afternoon and at 7:00 in the night on December 1rst and 2nd. Tickets are $12, don’t miss out!
Winter concert: Because Christmas is coming up, the school is hosting our annual winter concert! The 5th, and 6tth grade band are going to perform in this concert along with the 5th grade orchestra and 5th and 6th chorus on December 19. On December 14, the 6th grade orchestra, 7th and 8th grade band, and 7th and 8th grade chorus will perform. Both concerts will take place at the school at 7:00 P.M..
