The Call to Prayer: Father of lights, be near to me today. I call on you in faith. Hear my prayer.
The Greeting: Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever will be--a world without end. Amen.
Morning Gospel lesson: "Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One ." -John 1: 32-34
Application: John the Baptist is Jesus' cousin and he pointed people to Jesus, do you point people to Jesus?
Morning Proverb: "Walk with the wise and become wise, walk with fools and get in trouble." -Proverbs 13:20
Application: Take stock of your relationships: Do you hang out with wise men? Are you able to wisely influence foolish men?
The Lord's Prayer:
Our Father in Heaven,
Let your holiness be revealed
Let your kingdom come, let your will be done
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today, our daily bread.
Erase our debts, as we erase the debts of others.
Keep us from temptation and rescue us from evil
For Kingdom, power, and glory
belong to you forever and ever.
AMEN!
Jesus is the chosen one sent from God. Other religions have prophets. Islam has Muhammad, Buddhism has Buddha, etc. But there is only one Chosen One according to the bible. Even though John the Baptist is Jesus’ cousin, John received many confirmations that Jesus is in fact God’s Chosen One. The whole point of Christianity is wrapped up in a person, not a belief system. Jesus is that person. Our faith is built around the Chosen One and not a religion. Jesus personalizes our relationship with God making it possible to actually know God intimately. What Jesus did no other prophet can do, or will do. He is the bridge between heaven and earth. Believe it.
