PLC Sydney recognises the need for students to be safe and responsible users of digital technologies. We believe that explicitly teaching students about safe and responsible online behaviours is essential and that this is best taught in partnership with parents/guardians. We are committed to providing programs and procedures to support safe and responsible uses of digital technologies.
At PLC Sydney it is expected that all members of our community work together to provide a safe, caring and supportive learning environment. Our school community includes leaders, teachers and other school staff, students and parents/carers. We request that parents/guardians work with us and create this environment at home.
ACTION REQUIRED: The following agreement should be read by students together with their family. Once you have read and understood the agreement, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page. By clicking on the submit button, you are indicating that you have read, understood and agree to our Acceptable Use Policy Agreement.
Device Loan and Digital Technologies Acceptable Use Agreement - Year 5 and 6 2022
Year 5 students have already workshopped safe and appropriate Chromebook use with Mrs Kardiasmenos and their class teacher. With their peers, they have developed a safe digital footprint poster and a digital pledge.
The following agreement should be read by students together with their family. It should be read, signed and returned to school by filling in this Google form. All PLC Sydney students, teachers and parents agree that digital responsibilities:
* Are jointly negotiated, owned and implemented by all members of the school community;
* Focus on positive and pro-social behaviours;
* Focus on prevention and early intervention;
* Are supported by relevant procedures;
* Are consistent, fair and reasonable; and linked to appropriate actions and consequences.
* Educate students to be safe and responsible users of digital technologies;
* Raise students’ awareness of issues such as online privacy and intellectual property including copyright;
Staff at PLC Sydney will:
* Supervise students when using digital technologies for educational purposes; provide a filtered internet service but acknowledge that full protection from inappropriate content can never be guaranteed;
* Respond to issues or incidents that have the potential to impact on the wellbeing of our students;
* Know that some online activities are illegal and as such we are required to report this to the police;
* Support parents/guardians to understand the importance of safe and responsible use of digital technologies, the potential issues that surround their use and strategies they can implement at home to support their daughter.
