PERFORMING ARTS
Pipes & Drums
The PLC Sydney Pipes and Drums are an exciting and somewhat unique part of the PLC co-curricular program. The Band performs at many events during the year, both at school and externally. In recent years, the Band has played in the Sydney ANZAC Day march, at Celtic festivals outside of Sydney and at pipe band competitions in NSW and Qld. From the thrill of marching in a street parade to the discipline of competing against other pipe bands, the girls are afforded many experiences. As well as competent tuition in playing the challenging instruments of the band (bagpipes and snare, tenor and bass drums), the members of the Pipes and Drums gain experience in teamwork, personal organisation, deportment and presentation, and leadership. There is also the opportunity to tour with the Pipes and Drums in Senior School.
