After defining their problem of practice, articulating a measurable AIM statement and identifying promising solutions for changing the status quo, teams are ready to move toward enacting real improvement. As they prepare to do so, however, it is important that leaders consider how ready their organizations - and the people within them - are to undertake sustained, systemic change.
This section of the toolkit discusses what we know about the psychology of change and provides tools for assessing organizational readiness for change, identifying key champions and adopters, and effectively managing change over time.
These tools help teams to consider whether their organizations are ready to make a significant change, and whether the right resources and capacities are in place to move forward.
A pivotal element of change leadership is stakeholder engagement. In early parts of the process, teams considered how to engage stakeholders who were closest to the experience of their problem of practice. Now, leaders should consider who is positioned to drive the changes they desire - and who may need to be convinced that change is necessary.
