JOB DESCRIPTIONS & PAY RANGES

Pitkin County operates under a classification and compensation management system. It's a way for us to organize similarly-situated positions across the organization as well as pay equitably based off of knowledge, skills, abilities and effort. 

JOB SERIES

All County positions fall into one of the following five job series: 

Director/Executive Director

Manager/Administrator

Supervisor/Analyst

Specialist/Coordinator

Assistant/Technician

JOB CLASS

These job series are further broken down into a job class:

Executive Director

Director

Manager

Administrator

Supervisor

Analyst

Specialist

Coordinator

Assistant

Technician


This system allows us to have specific definitions for job classes so we can ensure defined career paths, where applicable, and transparent compensation practices across the organization. 

JOB GRADES & PAY RANGE

Each job has a grade, with a minimum, midpoint and maximum pay amount that the County pays for that particular position. These amounts are know as the Pay Range and each grade has its own Pay Range. The pay range for each grade can be found in the Compensation Plans.
