Computer Science 8 is a mandatory semester-long course that builds on previous knowledge and skills, and advances with the curriculum from Computer Science 7 (CS7). After reviewing concepts introduced in CS7, students continue to advance their Design and Computational skills. We apply these skills and processes to solve more complex problems and design multi-part products. To do this, they use the Maker space, the 3D printers, and the laser cutter. We incorporate the Engineering Design Process (DTEP) into their work. In addition, we engage in a series of photo-editing and advanced web development projects. These projects utilize HTML coding, JavaScript, and text-based programming. Through these projects, we develop coding, logical reasoning, and algorithmic thinking skills. Various topics of digital citizenship will be incorporated throughout the course.
