Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to STEM Summer Academy at Pine Bush High School. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the expectations and format of this summer academy. I hope you find this information helpful in preparing you for the successful completion of this program. This summer you will be learning about the following topics:
Unit 1: STEAM Careers
Unit 2: Engineering Design Process
Unit 3: Newton's Laws and Rockets
Unit 4: Underwater ROV's
Unit 4: Introduction to Welding - GMAW
Unit 5: Manufacturing and 3D Printing
Dates:
Week 1 Monday - Friday June 29th - July 3rd
Week 2 Monday - Friday July 6th - July 10th
Week 3 Monday - Thursday July 13th - July 16th
Boat Races: Wednesday July 15th 1:00-2:45pm
Graduation: Thursday July 16th at 8:00 AM
Supplies:
Lunch
Water Bottle
Chromebook & charger
Your academy shirt on your body
Tan/Black shorts or pants
Closed toed sneakers/workboots
Uniforms:
Academy T-Shirt and Polo Shirts will be issued on the first day of the academy.
Students must provide their own tan/khaki/black shorts, and tan/khaki/black pants, no leggings or sweatpants.
Sneakers or workboots only, no flip flops or sandals of any kind.
Attendance Policy:
Upon the third absence students will be dismissed from the academy, no exceptions.
Grading Policy:
50% Assignments
50% Projects
Transportation:
You must provide your own transportation. We will provide a shuttle bus from Circleville Park to PBHS at 7:15am and it returns them tothe park at 3:00 pm.
