Scenario 1 final demonstrations conducted with Sharper A6

Inside REAL Scenario 1 activities framework, it was conducted a four days mission in Sharper Shape premises, in Espoo (Finland), aiming to complete the NSS integration into Sharper A6 RPA, to perform test and validation flights, and to conduct final demonstration flights.

After conducting REAL Scenario 2 validation flights, the results were analysed and among others, the maximum Flight Technical Error (FTE) was evaluated. Based on the outputs, a new navigation specification was defined (RNP 0.02) and a new RPAs instrument flight procedure was designed for ATLAS Centre for Experimental Flights.

After the first integration tasks conducted in March, it was scheduled a second mission to FADA-CATEC premises of three days, in Sevilla (Spain), in order to conclude the NSS integration tasks in AirCATEC D130 and to perform the validation flights, which were not conducted in March due to adverse weather conditions.

In order to move forward on REAL project activities related to Scenario 2, it was conducted a two days mission in FADA-CATEC premises, in Sevilla (Spain). The objective was to integrate EGNOS Navigation and Surveillance System (NSS), developed in REAL framework, into AirCatec D-130 RPA, and to perform validation flights if possible.

The GSA has deployed a stand in the MWC 2018 where information about EGNOS and Galileo systems is provided to all interested. Furthermore, the stand is also used as a showcase for some of the most challenging projects funded by GSA, related to RPAS using EGNOS and Galileo solutions, including REAL.

Filippo Tomasello (EuroUSC Italia) participated in the RPAS CivOps 2018 Conference held in Paris, France, presenting the REAL project and the benefits that EGNOS may bring to navigation of civil drones as well as the potential and current limits of SORA.

In the framework of 5-LIVES project, led by Pildo Labs, a flight campaign was performed in Toén, in the Spanish region of Galicia. Alongside the main objectives of the demonstration, this flight campaign offered the opportunity to test the initial developments within REAL.

On Thursday 27th of April, an RPAS demonstration day was hosted by FADA-CATEC in ATLAS Experimental Flight Center, located in Villacarrillo (Jaén), as as part of the dissemination activities in the framework of REAL project.
